Las Clinicas del Norte Mobile Dental Clinic paid its first visit to Carson on Monday, June 24, 2019. To make this happen, Carson Community Association (CCA) President Elizabeth Brownrigg reached out to the Carson community to gauge if there was enough interest and, thankfully, there was. The arrangement was that if fewer than 10 patients showed up, the clinic would leave when they were done with the last patient and no others were waiting.
Convenient Location and Accessible Services
At 8:30am on the appointed day, the mobile clinic was parked on the verge near the Carson post office and ready to carry out dental exams and to clean teeth. As the morning progressed, more cars drew up to check out the clinic. Several Carsonites simply stopped to visit with neighbors who were waiting their turn.
The mobile clinic has two fully equipped service cubicles with state-of-the-art dental equipment

The mobile unit has two well-equipped state-of-the-art cubicles. On this day, it was staffed by dentist Dr. Aine Malloy and dental technician Carol.

A standard dental exam at the mobile clinic includes:
- Dental x-rays (radiographs) to evaluate oral health problems
- Thorough check for cavities and gum disease
- Professional discussion of any dental issues identified
- Personalized recommendations for further treatment
- Professional teeth cleaning
There is a reception and small waiting area in the mobile clinic or patients can sign in and hang out with neighbors outside
Affordable Care Options
Cleanings were free for first-time patients of Las Clinicas del Norte. For patients not covered by Medicaid or other dental insurance plans, the clinic offers a sliding scale of fees based on income. Proof of income accepted by the clinic includes the latest tax return statement.
