While cattle are grazed under permit on the Carson National Forest, they are to be found regularly in other areas where they should not be, for example on the road verge or on your property.
On the road they are a hazard to human life as a result of risk of collision with cars. This is particularly so at night with black cows when they are almost invisible until it is too late. Some Carson residents have had collisions or near collisions in such circumstances. Cows can also do an enormous amount of damage on your property.
So if you see cattle outside of the National Forest, please call Jake Vigil at (505) 927-3333.
